The St. Louis Poetry Center hosts a yearly poetry contest, the Beverly Hopkins Memorial Poetry Contest, which is available to high school students in the region. It is free to enter and gives students an opportunity to share their work with others (as well as maybe win some money). Even if you don't consider yourself a poet, this is an outlet for creative expression that gives you a chance to voice what is going on in your world right now.
At the bottom of this post, you will find guidelines on how to enter and more information about the contest. This year, as seen in the attached letter, they are really encouraging poets to focus on bearing witness to history.
