HCHS COVID-19 Self-Care Corner

Members of the HCHS family are going through tough times. To help out a little, the Hawks Library staff (with some suggestions by honorary Hawk junior librarian, Dr. K) has decided to help out in the way we best know how - research! Below, you can find some curated resources to help you better help yourself.

If you have any suggestions for resources, feel free to contact us.

Our newest addition to this page is a collection of ebooks through our Gale Databases, in partnership with the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation. This foundation exists to bring awareness to mental health issues experienced by teens and young adults. Watch the video below to learn more about this resource.

In the words of the immortal Bill S. Preston, Esq. in the original (Bill &) TED Talk: "Be excellent to each other." Here are a couple of TED Talks that can help you be excellent to yourself and others during the pandemic. Click on the picture to be taken to your TED Talk.

We thought these videos may help.

A helpful video for students.

A pre-pandemic video...sometimes the oldies are best. Most teachers are empathetic, so it can help a bit with vicarious trauma.

This video claims to help create "Stress-Free Virtual Learning." We could all use some of that right about now.

A CNN special report on coping with COVID.

A "Daily Show" special report on coping with COVID.

An educational video on the mental health challenges presented by this pandemic and ways to cope.

A complete (somewhat lengthy, but worth it for teachers) webinar on self-care for teachers.
