Scholarship Opportunity!

Money!

Now that we have your attention, we ask that all seniors who are planning to attend a college, university, community college, trade school, or other post-secondary institution continue reading.

Hazelwood NEA, the association that represents teachers in HSD, is offering a $500 scholarship to students throughout the district who are continuing their education next year. The Mary Jo Giessman Memorial Scholarship is awarded to senior students who demonstrate the impact that their teachers have had on their studies and other aspects of their lives. Here is a quick rundown of facts about the scholarship:

A) HNEA is offering seven (7) $500 scholarships to students across the district - two have been allocated for each corridor high school and one has been allocated for the Opportunity Center.

B) Students must be seniors who have been accepted into a post-secondary institution to be eligible.

C) Students do not need to be entering into the field of education. All who fulfill the requirements above can win.

D) Students will complete one project (outlined within) that illustrates how an educator has impacted his/her/their life.

E) The deadline for applications and projects is May 15.

F) The scholarship winners will receive their money by check and may be invited to a board meeting to receive a certificate (pending several factors including return to in-person board meetings).

To apply for this scholarship, please download the application below, complete it with Kami, and send it with all required materials listed within to Mr. W by May 15.
